The guys at gearbase are top notch. The service is incredile and I would highly recommend using them if you are looking to rent video gear. I've used Gearbase on several occasions, and they've always had the gear I was looking for, and were great to deal with. Their downtown location close to transit makes it easy to get to and the folks there are always super friendly. I'm a hobbyist photographer, so I don't always have the budget to spend on top tier glass for special use occasions so renting makes the most sense to me for usage during my travels. Gearbase's prices are reasonable, and I've never had any issues with availability. They're also very friendly and customer focused - they'll chat about what you're going to be shooting when I've gone to pick up the lenses , and recently was nice enough to waive my cancellation charges for a lens recently due to unforeseen changes to my travels - which they definitely didn't have to do. I've been more than pleased with Gearbase in the several times I've used them, and will definitely recommend others to come here as well for photo and video gear.read more

Gearbase is one of the best film, videography gear rental companies located in downtown Vancouver. I’ve been rental gears for projects from them for the last few years. They have the best, low rental cost with super friendly staff and service. I have been renting from Dylan and team for years. I've watched them expand and grow into one of, if not the most reliable and well stocked rental houses in all of Vancouver. Gearbase has a fantastic selection of gear and very competitive pricing, in most cases renting for lower than their competition. The gear itself is usually kept in great shape and I've never really had any issues with renting from them. The only downside is that while the space is very accessible via transit (being right downtown) it can be a pain trying to find parking or accessing the loading bay during busy downtown Vancouver days. Overall, a great place to rent camera/ film gear in downtown Vancouver. Friendly knowledgeable staff for the most part and a long standing tradition as one of the best rental companies you can rent from in the city !read more

These guys absolutely saved my bacon during a weekend shoot. My camera body died (not rented from Gearbase), and having no where else to turn, I called their after hours number and they managed to get me a new body in about an hour and a half. 110% recommend Gearbase! Even when I was younger and had no money these guys were willing to rent me gear, no major deposit required. Once I paid $35 to rent a sigma 24 1.4 for 3 days, will continue to use this service for ever. There even good for renting a lens to test it for a whole day before you buy. Dylan from Gear Base Rental was extremely helpful with our rental equipment needs. We were only able to pick up the equipment on a Sunday and he had no problem accommodating that. Dylan's rates are great, his service is exceptional, friendly, and informative. He walked me through the set up for the gear we were borrowing, ensured I had everything I would need to successfully use it (we required a much larger tripod than what we had, as well as some extra power cords) and made sure instructions were with the gear so I could set it up on my own. He also recommended some sites I could use to streamline the process we would be using on site. We were really happy with Dylan's service and will rent again!read more

Good and well maintained gear. Great for picking up light loads from them. Great price for gear especially on multi-day shoots. I would recommend arriving 20minutes ahead of time as finding the loading bay is difficult by vehicle but easy by foot, it is a very awkward loading access/bay so plan ahead with them if you are renting a medium or large load from them, such as a Truck or Van load.read more

Best customer service in the business!! I rented a Ronin MX and the stabilizer started to vibrate out of control. Without any app support, all my footage had micro jitters and was unusable. It was an inherent problem with the model cause it's brand new and not as stable as the older Ronin M. Even though it was all a technical failure, the staff gave me a full refund and apologized (as if it was their fault; which it clearly wasn't). I have yet to see such level of customer support from any business so far. Weather you are starting up, hobbyist or a industry pro., you are sure to appreciate their caring service when renting out gears worth thousands of dollars. I hired a lens from gear house in December when i was i Vancouver for the Commonwealth Powerlifting Championships. I found them via a google search and after deciding I should at least price up hiring lens I contacted them via email for a quote. The price was fantastic, (5 days for slightly more than the cost of a day in the UK) Responses to emails were usually within a few minutes during their office hours and they even gave me directions from my hotel via public transport If I ever need to hire gear in the Vancouver area again this will definitely be my 1st call read more
